Pete Handley, 60, who represents Carterton South West, lives in Shilton and is married.

His political biography lists his interests as agriculture, auctions and rugby – he is vice president of Witney Rugby Club.

Mr Handley has been a member of West Oxfordshire District Council since 2002 and Carterton Town Council for 17 years until 2007, when he joined the county council.

He has been deputy mayor of Carterton twice and served as the town’s mayor during the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. He is also a life member of the GMB Union.

He pledges to close council offices, make group policy decisions, axe the £182,000-a-year chief executive role and to share services, procurement and borrowing with other councils.
