A CONVICTED rapist wanted by the police on recall to prison was arrested after featuring in the Oxford Mail’s Bad Eggs Easter campaign.

John Bisson, of no fixed address, was arrested by police on Saturday night after a tip-off from the public just hours after his photograph appeared in the Mail.

The caller rang Thames Valley Police just before 6pm and told them they knew detectives were looking for Bisson and that he was in the Blackbird Leys area.

Police officers, dog handlers and the force helicopter were sent to the estate and Bisson was arrested in the Samphire Road area at 7.15pm and has subsequently been recalled to prison.

Det Insp Paul Miller said he was delighted with the immediate success of the campaign.

He said: “This demonstrates just how important Bad Eggs and Badvent are – it’s really successful.

“It is quite clear that it works.”

Bisson, 26, was jailed in November, 2009, for five years for raping an 18-year-old woman as she slept and then putting a knife to her throat.

He had been recalled to prison following an altercation in Reading on March 17.
