Spandau Ballet star Hadley is pure Gold

Aspiring musicians struck Gold once more when Spandau Ballet star Tony Hadley performed alongside them in Witney.
Mr Hadley took part in a singing workshop with youngsters from Witchwood School of Rock at Fat Lil’s in Corn Street on Wednesday.
He also held a Q&A session with the 100 youngsters and their families and performed on stage with some of the young bands.
It is the second time stars have worked with the school, after members of legendary rock group Guns N’ Roses visited in October 2010.
Luke Ashby, 11, and Damon Marshall, 12, played Spandau Ballet hit Gold alongside Mr Hadley with their band Twisted State of Mind.
Luke said: “We have never played with a famous guy before and it was amazing. I loved it.
“I was gobsmacked he was playing with us. It was one of the best moments of my life.
“Maybe one day we could end up as famous as him. We really want to get bigger and become proper rock stars.”
Damon said: “It was really awesome just meeting Tony Hadley and playing Gold with him.
“He gave us loads of tips and it really helped us. He has inspired us loads.”
Chipping Norton secondary school pupil Joey Kenny said: “I played guitar with him and we did a cover of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen.”
The 13-year-old who plays in The Reaper band with three school friends added: “It was great to meet him – he was a nice, down to earth bloke who shared a lot of secrets with us about vocals.”
Mike Dove, from Witchwood School of Rock, said: “It was amazing.
“It was to give the kids the opportunity to meet someone who is a British icon in the music industry and be inspired by them.
“It gives the kids the chance to hear what it will be like in the music industry from someone who has been there and done it.”
The rock school teaches youngsters how to write music, form bands and perform on live stage and has about 70 students.
