North Leigh are through to the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final after seeing off a gutsy challenge from Thame United 2-1 at Oxford City’s Court Place Farm on Tuesday night.
The Hellenic League outfit were not helped by having Alex Stewart sent off after 36 minutes for a tackle on Tony Clark.
John Mills put the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West side ahead on 11 minutes after a good build-up.
Thame levelled in the 28th minute. Luke Ricketts, who was a constant threat on the wing, crossed for Louis Cordice to beat keeper Sam Warrell with a near-post header.
Stewart’s red card left Thame with it all to do and they conceded a second three minutes before the break.
Keiran Sanders saw his shot blocked, but Ben Reardon followed up to knock the ball home from close range.
Despite playing with ten, Thame had the better of the second half, frustrating North Leigh with their offside trap, but there were no further goals.
The winners will face Oxford City in the final at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, April 17.
