WAYNE Blossom’s ex-tra-time winner gave Highfield Social Club a pulsating 3-2 victory over Kidlington Royals in a thrilling final at Oxford City, writes TIM SIRET.

The Banbury Sunday League team had taken the lead after 37 minutes, when Dan Bone stooped low to head home a fine cross from Murray Nichols.

And the Bicester side kept their Critchleys Upper Thames Valley League opponents at bay until the 83rd minute, when Lewis Coyle’s long-range shot crashed against a post, and Ryan Curtin followed up to score.

Royals’ Liam O’Callaghan then floated over a beautiful cross for Coyle to smash home on the half volley.

It looked all over for Highfield going into injury time, but they pushed Vinny Byfield upfield, and it paid off immediately as he combined with Blossom for Scott Bridges to fire a last-gasp equaliser.

Blossom then became Highfield’s hero in extra time, heading home from a corner.

There was still time for a late tackle by Bridges to spark a 22-man flare-up, before the final whistle signalled a famous victory for last year’s runners-up.
