New Leys pool gets grant for moveable floor

The planned Blackbird Leys swimming pool has won a £75,000 grant for a moveable floor.

Oxford City Council secured the funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund. It will allow the floor to be positioned at different depths. A Town Green bid, which would have halted work, was rejected by Oxfordshire County Council earlier this month.

Why even bother building it now you won't be able to fill it up from 1st April because there's a hosepipe ban. Mind you knowing the council it will take longer to build and be hugely over budget.

1. Because a hosepipe ban is for domestic, not commercial use.

2. Because the pool won't be ready to fill until early 2013.

They can still fill it as long as they use watering cans instead

Sounds just like the pool I sometimes go to in Aylesbury - it's suprising how far south oxford residents travel to avoid the near derelict pool at temple cowley.

I'm sure that the IWCA in close co-operation with savetcp will find yet another reason why the parish and south oxford in general should be denied a lovely new children's fun pool and positionable floored training pool.

I think that you will find that it already happens in all pools. But now that the ludicrous Town Green attempt was correctly dismissed, it seems that the news just gets better and better concerning the new pool. Perhaps the Fishermans Spouse or one of her ilk would like to comment on the vastly improved facilities that the new pool will be providing over her preferred choice of a dilapidated old bacteria filled excuse for a public facility.

Jane was last seen in this paper protesting about Conservative & Liberal Democrat policies at Jubilee House.

The number 1, 5, 10, 12 and 12C buses all serve the Business Park stop for Jubilee House.

Oddly enough, the same buses that serve the soon to be built gorgeous new pool at Blackbird Leys.

Not only that, but the same buses that served the former pool "outside the ring road" at Peers School...
