FIVE suspects arrested over allegations of cover-ups in the phone-hacking inquiry - understood to include Rebekah Brooks and her racehorse trainer husband Charlie - were released on bail tonight, Scotland Yard said.

Mrs Brooks, a former editor of The Sun and News of the World newspapers and ex-chief executive of News International and her husband were held earlier today at their home in Sarsden, near Chipping Norton, on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, sources said.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said the five were bailed until dates next month while a sixth suspect remains in custody.

Mrs Brooks, 43, was questioned at an Oxfordshire police station while Mr Brooks was interviewed at a Buckinghamshire police station.
