A WORKER was electrocuted today after a hydraulic cherry picker he was using in an old quarry in Brize Norton touched high voltage power lines.
The 29-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest after the surge of power hit him and threw him from the machine.
The air ambulance, paramedics and police rushed to the disused quarry in Burford Road this afternoon after the alarm was raised by another worker at about 3.30pm.
The victim, who has not yet been positively identified, was rushed by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
A police spokesman last night confirmed the man had died follwing the incident.
A full scale Health and Safety Executive investigation has been launched. It was not known what the cherry picker was being used for at the quarry
