THERE were plenty of attractions, to suit all tastes and ages, at the Peers School fete in 1973. Richard Sullivan, two, and Stephanie Dix, three, were drawn to the British Leyland fire brigade display, where they were able to try on firemen’s helmets and hats.
Phil Adams took it easy as Mike Bradbury did the hard work in a sponsored pram push from John O’Groats to Lands End in 1977. They were from the George Inn Social Club in Littlemore and were raising money for a cancer research charity. The second picture shows them passing through Worcester.
Pupils wouldn’t be allowed to cross railway lines these days, but this was the route of Littlemore Grammar School’s girls’ cross country race in 1962. They are seen in the third picture crossing the line which ran through the village between Oxford and Princes Risborough. Part of the line survives today as the branch to the Cowley car plant.
