I FIND it extraordinary that the Liberal Democrats are basking in triumph about the changes to the health reforms.

They should be apologising to the British people for signing up in the first place to the Health and Social Care Bill, which most people could see would threaten the very existence of the NHS.

In doing so they have generated an enormous amount of anger and anxiety among both patients and health professionals when they could so easily have pre-empted the worst features of the legislation months ago.

Their victory is extremely hollow.
