“SHE had an amazing presence, tremendous sense of adventure and love for life.”

That was just one of the many tributes paid to Oxford schoolgirl Olivia Jefferies last night after she was killed in a car crash at the weekend.

The 18-year-old Oxford High School student died just days before she was due to take her A-levels.

Miss Jefferies was planning to read French and Arabic at university after sitting her exams this week.

But on Sunday night she died after her red Peugeot 107 and a silver Ford Focus collided in Adderbury. Her car left the road and crashed into a ditch.

Last night fire officers urged drivers to take extra care on the roads following a series of fatal accidents across Oxfordshire over the past few days.

In a statement, her family, from Twyford, near Banbury, paid tribute to their “amazing” daughter, known as Livi. They said: “Olivia was a much loved daughter, sister and young adult member of the Oxfordshire community.

“Livi was a popular pupil at Oxford High. She had an amazing presence, tremendous sense of adventure and love for life. Livi loved to combine travel with fashion, spoke fluent French and had great ambitions to see the world.

“Her bubbly and natural cheeky personality will always be cherished and sadly missed by her family and numerous friends.”

Judith Carlisle, headteacher of the Belbroughton Road school, said pupils and staff were still coming to terms with Olivia’s death.

She said: “Olivia, or Livi, was a delightfully lively girl, full of energy, enthusiasm and passion for life. She was popular with students, and was a young woman with a desire to contribute positively to the world, with a passion for drama and empathy for people in difficult circumstances.

“Having gained excellent GCSE results, she was planning to follow her A-levels by reading French and Arabic at university and to use her flair for languages in pursuit of a global career.

“Oxford High School is a close knit community and we are pulling together to look after each other as we come to terms with this tragedy. The loss of a member of the school is keenly felt by us all and our thoughts are with Olivia’s family at this time.”

Support is being provided to pupils during their exams.

The driver of the Ford, a 28-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for treatment following the crash.

Referring to the spate of accidents, Stuart Garner, from Oxfordshire fire service, said: “We are urging people to drive to the road conditions and pay particular attention to the speed limits. You don’t have to be travelling over the speed limit to be driving too fast for the prevailing road conditions.”

Police are urging witnesses to the crash to call 08458 505505.
