Thieves broke into Helen and Douglas House’s Headington charity shop in Windmill Road and raided the safe.

The break-in took place during the night on Wednesday, and about £250 in cash was taken, along with a donation from a local pre-school, the quantity of which is not known.

They got in by forcing the back doors.

Lin Beekar, from Helen and Douglas House, said: “The charity relies on people to support the shop and help us care for the children and families who spend time at the hospice.

“I am sure they will be as disappointed as we are that a charity caring for sick young people has been targeted in this way.”
