Former Chinnor flanker Tom Johnson has been called into the England squad to face the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.
The 28-year-old Exeter Chiefs man is in England’s 24-man party for the traditional clash after a fine first season in the Aviva Premiership.
Johnson appeared for Chinnor while he was studying at Oxford Brookes University and played for Oxfordshire at Twickenham in the 2003 County Championship Plate final.
He will learn tomorrow whether he has made the starting line-up and he could yet make a late run for England’s World Cup squad.
“It’s a great opportunity for all the players who are looking to force their way into Martin Johnson’s plans for the World Cup and those who will go on to defend the Churchill Cup with the England Saxons next month,” said Stuart Lancaster, who will coach the team on Sunday.
