OCA League Divisions 1-4

EAST Oxford began their Division 1 campaign with a crushing 99-run victory at Minster Lovell on Saturday.

Batting first, East Oxford rattled up a formidable total of 266-9 as Amir Butt hit 80 and Aftab Alam 70.

Minster were never up with the run rate, despite 64 from Ed Dunn, and subsided to 167 all out as Saqib Hussain claimed 5-32.

Shrivenham maintained their perfect start to the season with an 85-run victory at Great Horwood.

Mark Whale (66) and Adam Tucker (46) helped Shrivenham post 220-7, before Ernie Howe claimed 4-17 as Horwood crawled to 135-8.

Garsington also boast a 100 per cent record after beating reigning champions Westbury by 63 runs.

Mursaleen Sadiqi (61) and Abdullah Sadiqi (48) led the way in Garsington’s 240-9.

Four wickets apiece from Gersh Whiteman (4-49) and Steve Richardson (4-50) saw Westbury all out for 177, despite 70 from Tom Wilson.

Horley’s Jonathan Hart took 5-23 to help his side to a nine-wicket win over Marcham.

The visitors were skittled for 84, before Nick Tarrant (32no) and Dave Clark (32) helped Horley to 87-1.

Charlbury eased to a seven-wicket win at home to Tetsworth.

Restricting their visitors to 136 all out, Charlbury eased in at 137-3 with more than 15 overs to spare.

Broughton & North Newington posted a crushing eight-wicket win at home to Oxenford.

Gurjet Singh took 4-38 to help bowl Oxenford out for 148, then Jason Tilcock (82no) led Broughton to 152-2.

Marsh Gibbon beat Stonesfield by 73 runs.

Wayne Platts was the star for Gibbon, scoring 51 in his side’s 184 all out, before taking 4-17 as Stonesfield crashed to 111 all out.

Oxford Caribbean eased to a six-wicket win at Faringdon.

Ian McDowall (82) helped the home side to 153 all out, Abid Ahmed taking 4-25 for Caribbean.

In reply, Richie Matthews (58no) and Richard Burton (40) saw Caribbean to 154-4.

Hook Norton clinched a one-wicket win at Freeland.

Paul Souch (4-16) and Robin Scotter (4-33) combined as Freeland were skittled for 103.

Hooky edged to 104-9, Chris Hicks taking 4-23.

Father and son Ivan and Jack Mulford led the way as East & West Hendred maintained their perfect start in Division 3 with a nine-wicket win over Westcott.

The visitors were bowled out for 117, before Jack (52) and Ivan (44no) led Hendred to 122-1.

Watlington’s 100 per cent record continued as they beat Clifton Hampden by six wickets.

Gareth Bridges (3-6) and Steve Strong (3-25) helped to dismiss Clifton for 94, then Strong’s 51 saw Watlington to 95-4.

An unbeaten half-century from Mark Lambert helped Chadlington to a 24-run win over Winslow Town.

The home side scored 175-4, then Steve Hunt (4-34) spearheaded Chadlington’s bowling attack as Winslow crashed to 151 all out.

In Division 4, Jim McGeown was too hot to handle as Chipping Norton cruised to a nine-wicket win at Fringford.

The home side were shot out for 110 as McGeown took 5-32.

Kevin Duester (51) and Ian Widdows (39no) saw Chippy to 111-1.

Wootton & Boars Hill produced another powerful batting display as they crushed Kennington by eight wickets.

Last week, they rattled up more than 300 runs against Deddington.

On Saturday, they were set 231 for victory by Kennington, and duly cruised home by eight wickets, Mark Gresham (96) and James Studds (85no) leading the way.
