CHARITY fundraiser Brian Adams is not sitting on his backside hoping to help poorly youngsters in hospital.

Instead he is quite literally getting behind a campaign to raise cash for sick newborn babies and their families.

The 30-year-old from Littlemore is raising cash by asking for sponsors for a tattoo on his backside.

And the catch is that Mr Adams will have no say in which cartoon character is indelibly marked on one of his buttocks.

That decision will be left up to the people who donate money towards his cause.

Mr Adams is doing it to raise money for Support of the Sick Newborn and their Parents (SSNAP), the charity which supports the special care baby unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Anyone who donates money will be able to nominate the character they would like to see on his backside, with each pound counting as one vote.

Mr Adams said: “Having no control over what happens is a little bit daunting, though I have absolutely no preference at all. I just wanted to pick something that was a little bit child-based.

“That’s a part of my body that is not going to be public. But it also makes it a bit more quirky.”

Mr Adams already has five tattoos on his body, including two on his calves and one on his other buttock.

He added: “It’s something I’ve always been interested in. I look at tattoos in an artistic way.”

Paul Humphreys, the tattoo artist at Evolution Tattoos in Kidlington who will adorn Mr Adams’s backside, said: “I’ve done one charity tattoo before. It’s all good fun. We do quite a few tattoos on that part of the body.”

SSNAP works to raise funds for neonatal care at the John Radcliffe Hospital, to help babies who are premature or born with other problems.

Mr Adams said he had visited the hospital recently.

He said: “To be honest I got a bit choked up. Being a father myself it really tugged on my heartstrings.”

Mr Adam’s campaign has raised just over £300 in donations with some of the selections including Pepe Le Pew, My Little Pony and Winnie the Pooh.
