An Islamic preacher who was banned from entering the UK has defied the Home Secretary’s exclusion order by addressing the Oxford Union.

Dr Zakir Naik was prevented from entering the country last June due to concern over comments he had made, including one that “every Muslim should be a terrorist”. He is appealing against the ban.

Appearing at the debating society via video-link on Friday, Dr Naik said Home Secretary Theresa May’s decision was politically motivated.

He said: “I am a man of justice and peace; I condemn all acts of terrorism and any wrong killing.”
