OXFORD United have teamed up with the Against Breast Cancer charity to try to turn the vandalism of its bull statue into a fundraiser.

Vandals painted the iconic sculpture outside the Kassam Stadium pink over the weekend.

However the club has decided to turn the vandalism into a positive and is asking supporters to donate money to the Abingdon-based charity Against Breast Cancer.

Supporters can go along to the bull before tonight's game against Shrewbury Town and Saturday's clash with Cheltenham Town and make a donation.

United chairman Kelvin Thomas said: "We are delighted to be making a positive statement following the disappointment of someone painting the bull pink.

"We had a few discussions over how to react and we decided the best way was to make it have a positive impact on the community.

"We are confident this was not an attack on the football club and we received a huge amount of exposure due to it.

"Against Breast Cancer was an obvious choice to link up with due to the colour and we are very pleased to react quickly to the situation and help raise some money for the charity.

"Supporters are asked to come and have a look and help such a good cause before it is cleaned up hopefully next week."
