OXFORD United boss Chris Wilder is among the nominations for the npower Manager of the Month for December in League Two.

The U’s managed two wins out of two during the weather-disrupted month, beating Barnet 2-1 at the Kassam Stadium on December 4 and Macclesfield Town 2-1 at home just after Christmas.

Wilder is up against three others with similar 100 per cent records – Gillingham’s Andy Hessenthaler, Northampton Town’s Ian Sampson and Wycombe Wanderers’ Gary Waddock.

Gillingham won 4-2 at Macclesfield and 3-0 at home to Port Vale.

Northampton beat Stockport 2-0 at home and then won 1-0 at Stevenage.

And Wycombe chalked up two home wins, 1-0 against Bury and 2-1 against Hereford.

The winners will be announced next Thursday.

The judging panel includes former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley, Sky Sports Football League expert Peter Beagrie, Football League chief operating officer Andy Williamson and BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit.

While they only played home games during December, the U’s are today involved in their second successive away match, with a visit to Aldershot Town where they will be hoping to follow up Monday’s exciting 4-3 win at Torquay.

Said midfielder Simon Clist: “It was a great game to play in and an enjoyable game to watch as well, I imagine.

“It shows we can go to tough places away from home and score a lot of goals, but obviously conceding the three goals is something we’d like to tighten up on.”

Jack Midson is a definite starter after his Plainmoor treble, and Wilder needs to see which two of three from Steve Maclean, James Constable and Tom Craddock to line up alongside him in attack.

Clist said: “Jack did well at Torquay and we have a lot of options up front. It’s great to have so many different types of strikers.

“But Aldershot has always been a tough place to go when I’ve played there. We’re going to have to be at our best to get a result.”

United have lost their last five meetings between the clubs, including a 1-0 home league defeat in October, and failed to score against them in the last four.

The Shots are in 19th place, but manager Kevin Dillon has nonsensed suggestions that his side are fighting a relegation battle.

“We’ve got another 25 games to come – we’re not even halfway through the season,” he said.

New signing Liam Henderson is set to go straight into the team after joining on loan from Watford, while midfielder Glen Little returns from a back injury, and Jamie Vincent is back after a two-game ban.
