Hundreds turn out to support hunt

The Heythrop Hunt in Chipping Norton The Heythrop Hunt in Chipping Norton

HUNDREDS of people gathered in Chipping Norton on Monday to support members of the Heythrop Hunt.

Although the winter weather meant there was no actual hunt, hundreds of people gathered in the town centre to enjoy a stirrup cup and show their support.

Alastair Jackson, director of the Masters of Foxhounds Association, who lives near Chipping Norton, was one of the people who gathered to support the hunt.

He said: “The weather stopped any hunting but there were about 30 members of the hunt in the town centre.

“The town was crammed with people supporting the Heythrop Hunt and the call for the repeal of the Hunting Act, which brought in the hunting ban.”

There were no hunts on Boxing Day this year as hunts traditionally do not meet on a Sunday.

All dressed up and nowhere to go.

What a pity.

I can't imagine how difficult it will be to get all that mud out of their jodhpurs.

I'm not particularly Pro or Anti fox hunting. However, I am against the people who campaign for it. Particularly the ones who make up statistics about foxes and lie through their teeth and stiff upper lips about it.
.
Those that say it keeps the fox population down are fibbing, bearing in mind it only deals with a fraction of the number that are killed by cars!
.
And the f***ing bugles! Sheesh!

I'm anti Foxes, with the exceptions of -

Megan
Glacier Mints
and Doctor

But wouldn't fox hunting be more fun if they replaced bugles with the vuvuzela?

I'm sure there would be no shortage of sadists out there supporting the Heythrop this week.

The rest of us celebrated peacefully with friends and family and didn't feel the need to kill anything for our amusement.

C,Mon, this is part of our heritage, and what made Britain great. The sooner Mr Cameron brings back hunting the better. What better sight than the majestic horses following the baying hounds in search of their deadly prey, and a free stirrup cup to boot. Long live the queen.

Oh dear, Mr. Mcvey! How terribly bloodthirsty!

Fact is, hunting was dying out until all the fuss about banning it raised its profile. If you dont like it, just ignore it.

Remember when Thatcher tried to ban football hooliganism with a silly unworkable law? There are some things which political interference cannot solve, especially when the politicians are ignorant about the subject.

Why the assumption that all people attending were supportive of fox hunting and the Act being repealed. Many of the people attending the Meet like myself see it as a annual social event where you could meet up with old friends who are visiting their relatives for Christmas or just to get out of the house after the Christmas festivities.
