Dogs of Oxford's homeless scrub up nicely

DOGS belonging to Oxford’s homeless have been transformed into pampered pooches.

They were lathered up and groomed free of charge at a dog wash at O’Hanlon House, formerly Oxford’s Nightshelter, with the help of volunteers from Didcot firm Pooch Mobile. Mel Parker from the company, is pictured cleaning Freddie, who belongs to Jason Harris.

Chief executive of O’Hanlon House, Lesley Dewhurst, said: “Homeless people generally put the needs of their pets above their own, but giving a large dog a bath would defeat even the most resourceful.”
