AN OXFORD University academic is encouraging the public to help create the world’s largest archive of online material concerned with the Anglo-Saxons.
Dr Stuart Lee, of the university’s English Faculty and Computing Services, is asking people to upload pictures and videos of Anglo-Saxon buildings or monuments in their area.
Dr Lee said: “Oxford is an Anglo-Saxon town, Alfred the Great was born in Wantage and set up the town’s defences in Wallingford, while St Michael’s Church on Cornmarket Street is an Anglo-Saxon Church.”
