Tetsworth's Hyron Shallow began the OCA campaign with a bang as he crashed an unbeaten 213 in his side's 93-run victory at Horley in Division 1 on Saturday, In a match reduced to 35 overs a side due to rain, Tetsworth rattled up a massive 330-2, with Shallow in destructive form.

In reply, David Taylor hit 62 and Nick Tarrant 54 as Horley were bowled out for 237.

Elsewhere, the wet weather badly affected the league programme.

Witney Swifts found a wet pitch too hot to handle as they crashed to a five-wicket defeat at home to Great Horwood. Swifts were sent crashing to 86 all out, Martin McStraw taking 4-22 and Simon Ridgway 3-38.

In reply, Omar Hussain claimed all five wickets, but Horwood eased home at 87-5.

Richard Tredwell made a cracking start to the season as he claimed hat-trick and hit 50 in Westbury's eight-wicket victory at home to Twyford. Batting first, Twyford were restricted to 140-9, thanks to Tredwell's 3-29.

Westbury made best use of a drying wicket to ease home at 141-2, Tredwell's half-century and Mark Styles's 41 seeing them to victory.

In Division 2, Brill got off to a winning start as they defeated relegated Garsington by 48 runs.

Hugh Simmons hit 41 in Brill's 139-8, then Ifihar Shah (4-13) and Darren Kavanagh (4-26) rattled through Garsington's batting as they slumped to 91 all out.

Eynsham's first game on their new ground ended in a six-wicket defeat against Marcham. They were rolled over for 95 after the rain, Andy Chalmers taking 3-34. Matt Launchbury then hit an unbeaten 35 as Marcham cruised in.

An 80-run stand between Steve Bowles and Danny Lloyd helped Shrivenham to a seven-wicket win at home to Faringdon. Batting first, Faringdon were another side to struggle in the wet conditions, only Andy Liddiard (35) getting going in their total of 99 all out.

Shrivenham wobbled early, but Bowles (45no) and Lloyd (35) saw them over the line.

Kings Sutton edged an exciting match against Watlington by nine runs.

Gary Crook hit 51 in Kings Sutton's 160-8, Nick Adby claiming 4-43 for Watlington.

In reply, Watlington were always in the hunt, thanks largely to Chris Allen's 70, but they fell just short.

Letcombe made a solid start in Division 3, seeing off Uffington by 59 runs.

Dave Bowden hit 67 and Richard Taylor 50 not out in Letcombe's 191-8, before Uffington were shot out for 132.

In Division 5, Charlbury 2nd inflicted a home defeat on Chalgrove in another tight finish.

Chalgrove posted 135 all out, Michael Edwards top-scoring with 35. Dan Stafford (46) and Mark Grantham (35no) then saw Charlbury to victory.

Hanney could do nothing right as they were soundly thumped by Chesterton. The heavy morning rain made for a more than lively pitch, and they succumbed to 39 all out, James Ashdown and Tom Jennings both taking 4-17.

James Campbell then hit 30 not out as Chesterton cruised in by ten wickets.

Just one match survived the weather in Division 6, as Minster Lovell 2nd started with a thrilling two-wicket victory at Cassington.

Phil Spearman claimed 4-27 in Cassington's 123 all out, before Duncan Macdonald hit a belligerent 44 as Minster edged home.

Ady Buckingham had a good start to life in Division 7 with Freeland 2nd as he produced a match-winning performance against Westbury 2nd. Buckingham claimed 4-17 as Westbury were shot out for 126, then hit an unbeaten 52 in Freeland's six-wicket triumph.
