Champions Didcot Town signed off from the GLS Football Hellenic League with a 5-0 victory over Ardley United at Carterton on Saturday to win their third successive Challenge Cup final.

After victories over Bishops Cleeve and Carterton in past seasons, they comfortably defeated Ardley to complete a memorable treble.

Didcot started as they meant to go on and Ardley keeper Steve Edwards made a brilliant double save from Andy Parrott and Andy Wallbridge inside the first two minutes.

Moments later, however, Edwards could do nothing to prevent Parrott nodding home from Danny Wallbridge's knock-down.

Didcot doubled their advantage in the 18th minute. Stuart Beavon broke into the box and unselfishly squared the ball to Ian Concannon to stoke home from ten yards.

Ardley nearly pulled a goal back when Phil Martin broke away from a Didcot corner, but his shot went wide.

The goal of the game came on the half-hour when Beavon broke clear to set-up Jack King, who fired a stunning right-foot shot into the corner from 20 yards.

Beavon himself got on the scoresheet shortly afterwards when he chipped Edwards in to make it 4-0.

On the stroke of half-time, Ardley should have scored following a mis-judgement from Didcot keeper Chris Webb, but Danny Campbell was on hand to clear.

Didcot regained the flow eight minutes into the second half when Beavon brought a great save from Edwards.

Goal No 5 arrivedl in the 57th minute when Concannon received a pass and slotted the ball to Beavon to hit his second of the game.
