Drivers travelling from Swindon to Oxford were held up this morning after a large pig strayed onto the carriageway.
The pig wandered onto the Oxford-bound carriageway of the A420 shortly after 9am.
Police were called to catch the animal but he ran back into a field and was captured by a farmer near the Tubney roundabout near Appleton before officers arrived.
Tim Wiseman, a spokesman for Oxford Police, said: "Officers were called to the incident to make sure that drivers were not in any danger.
"About a mile of traffic built up but it was all over quite quickly."
