Elizabeth Grace Brown
Wallingford's oldest resident, Elizabeth Grace Brown, has died at the age of 105.
She died in Wallingford Community Hospital on February 12 and the funeral is this Friday in St Mary's church at noon.
Mrs Brown was born in Compton Place, Wallingford, went to local schools, was in service in local houses and for the last 66 years of her life lived at Crispin Place with her daughter Heather Brown. She had been ill for only two weeks before she died but, before that, she was still fit enough to climb stairs.
She married builder and decorator William Brown in 1927. He died in 1971.
Mrs Brown was a keen gardener and reader. She had a son Ted and daughter Heather and had two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her younger sister Violet., who went out to Australia at the age of 92 to be near her daughter.
