The Ford range of cars continues to sell strongly in British showrooms, approaching the March 2002 new registration and the imminent launch of the new Fiesta.
Ford is still the most popular brand for British buyers with Ford Ka, Fiesta, Focus and Galaxy all the best-selling cars of their class.
The Ford Focus started the year as the UK's and world's biggest selling new car.
Ford's 2002 sales highlights so far include:
Fiesta sales up 12 per cent January 2002, versus January 2001
Focus is UK's best-selling car for 21st month is a row, up 19 per cent on January 2001
Ford Galaxy still number one in people carrier segment, 50 per cent more sales than nearest rival
Ford Ka sales soared by almost 43 per cent in January 2002, over the same period in 2001.
The introduction of Ford's latest common-rail diesel technology has seen a surge in Ford diesel sales with Mondeo and Focus combined taking nearly nine per cent of the diesel market. The Ford Focus is still the UK's best-selling diesel car overall.
