A family of six people with a combined age of 480 years are looking forward to spending Christmas together.

Russell and Christine Yates will be sitting down for Christmas dinner with all four of their parents.

The three couples all live in the same village -- Oakley, near Wheatley.

Plumbing and heating engineer Russell, 65, and retired prison worker Christine, 60, moved to Oakley from Cowley, Oxford, 32 years ago.

They were joined two years later by Christine's parents Kathleen and Leslie, who are 87 and 90. Russell's parents Harold and Irene, who are 91 and 87, also moved to the village from Cowley 17 years ago.

Christine's father used to own Oxford ironmongery factory JH Grant.

Russell's father, who was one of 18 children, worked at the Pressed Steel works at the Cowley car factory.

Christine's parents live with them in the annexe of their house, and Russell's parents live nearby. The three couples spend a lot of time together.

Russell's parents celebrated 65 years of marriage this year while Christine's celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Christine Yates said both sets of parents enjoyed their independence.

She said: "My mum and dad are in really good health. They get on the bus and go shopping three times a week, and we're all really close.

"We will be spending Christmas together.

"I don't know anyone else as lucky as us.

"A lot of our friends kept telling us it was unusual. I would really like to know if there's anybody else as fortunate."
