A student in Oxford has spoken about being held at gunpoint while she was working in an off-licence.

The 22-year-old Oxford Brookes University student was working in Thresher's in Old High Street, Headington, when a man went into the shop at about 12.40pm on March 9.

He pointed a handgun at her and demanded money.

She said: "For the first 10 or 15 seconds I just stood there. The man was talking but I wasn't listening because I was in shock."

The man, who was wearing a hooded top and a bandana which covered his face, took £60 from the till. The victim said she was still scared about leaving her home, and the ordeal had affected her preparation for exams.

She added: "I can't stop thinking about it, and my energy levels are really low.

"I keep thinking 'what if something like this happens again'. I'm just wondering when these thoughts will go away."

Dc Jake Neale, of Oxford CID, said: "This was a shocking experience. We would like to speak to anyone who saw this man running away, and the direction he went in."
