The Bengali New Year was celebrated in Oxford with a festival of food, dancing and music.

The Oxfordshire Bangladeshi Association staged the event at the Asian Cultural Centre, Manzil Way, east Oxford, to say Nobo Brasha -- Happy New Year.

Children took part in a competition to talk about the Bengali New Year.

She said: "It made me feel proud to be a Bangladeshi."

The children then danced and listened to speeches and live music.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commisioner Mohammed Hasib Aziz was among the guests.
