Forum A secured the Division 1 title with two matches still to play, following an impressive 9-1 victory over Vikings A.

And it was fitting that captain Karl Bushell claimed yet another maximum to maintain his 100 per cent record this season.

Andrew Flint was made to work hard, but joined Bushell with three victories.

Only Pete Dasher managed to make a dent in the Forum side, by beating Greg Boone.

Rutherford secured the runners-up spot with an 8-2 triumph over Morris Motors A and a draw with Vikings B.

Neil Hurford and Glen Freeman did the damage against Motors, but Alf Davies took the lead against Vikings.

With Rutherford having only two players, and Hurford going down in the fifth set to Nick Pattman, it needed the maximum from Davies to snatch a draw.

There were mixed results for St James A. After beating Morris Motors B 7-3, thanks to a maximum for Clive Morris, they failed to raise a team against Vikings A, leaving them in the relegation zone.

In Division 2, the wheels seem to be falling off at Bicester A.

A severely weakened two-man side crashed 7-3 to Vikings C - and it would have been even worse if it were not for substitute Nick Lacey.

After losing to maximum man Paul Borrowdale, Lacey won one of his matches, and lost the other 16-14 in the fifth set.

Witney B stayed in pole position in Division 4, following an 8-2 win over Forum F.

Neville West and Terry Morris bagged a maximum each, while the single win by Alec Reed that gave Witney all four points could prove crucial in the title race.

Bicester C did their title hopes no harm as they beat third-placed Holton A 7-3.

Nick Lacey and Steve Laird won all three of their games to limit Brian Dobson to just one victory.

Dobson teamed up with Alan Smith to take the doubles and salvage some pride.

In Division 5, St James B may have struck the vital blow by thrashing arch rivals Vikings E 8-2.

Graham Mifflin, for Vikings, won what should have been the main event, by beating Bob Ford 11-2, 11-9, 12-10.

But this was overshadowed by the final singles when youngster Paul Oakley beat the vastly more experienced Mifflin 10-12, 8-11, 16-14, 11-0, 11-4 to claim the only maximum.
