Organisers have been forced to cancel tomorrow’s World Pooh Sticks Championship in Oxfordshire.
The competition, held at Days Lock, in Long Wittenham, has been scrapped after Environment Agency officials raised warnings about the speed of the river.
The event is in its 27th year.
Organisers said heavy rainfall meant they could not get their safety boats out.
Organiser Liz Williams said: “We’re very sorry and we hope to rearrange the event for some time in September.”

Good old "elf and safety" although not much comfort for the hundreds that have flown in from all over the planet, in the hope of being crowned World Champion.
