BURGLARS stole hundreds of packets of cigarettes and a television from a house in Carterton.
Police are appealing for help after the burglary in Black Bourton Road between 2.30am and 3.30pm yesterday.
The burglars stole 800 packets of cigarettes and a 26 inch flat screen television.
Det Sgt Dick White, of Witney CID, said: "The offenders smashed the glass to the front door to gain entry to property.
"Between 1pm and 3pm, a witness saw a man walking away from the address, in the direction of the town centre, with a television under his arm.
"He was white, is in his late teens to early twenties; around 5ft 8ins, medium build, with dark hair.
"I appeal to anyone who may have seen a man matching this description or heard or saw anything suspicious at the address to contact police immediately."
Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

26" T.V. = £200. But 800 packets of fags =£4,300. With my limited intelligence methinks that we have an illegal fag importer, and Mr Plod should be looking at the victim rather than the robber. The game is afoot.
