Oxford not on Pope's itinerary yet

THE Pope will visit the UK in September, it has been confirmed — but it is still unclear whether he will come to Oxford.

Buckingham Palace today confirmed Pope Benedict XVI would visit Britain between September 16-19. But the only stops confirmed so far are Glasgow, London and Coventry.

A spokesman for the Catholic Communications Network could not confirm whether or not the Pope would visit Oxford but said more itinerary details would be given “closer to the time”.

During the visit, the Pope will beatify theologian and educationalist Cardinal John Henry Newman at a public mass in Coventry.

Cardinal Newman had strong links to Oxford, where he was received into the Roman Catholic Church, which is why there is speculation the Pope will visit the city.

Great picture - just needs the horns, and a swastika. I sincerely hope he doesn't come to Oxford - how this man was ordained as a good, respectable religious leader is beyond me...

He could send out so many important messages which his sub-Sahara followers would listen to, which may have helped the ravages of aids on the continent, urging them to use condoms for birth and disease control AND poured money in to providing free condoms instead of the copious bottles of wine the Vatican alledgedly consume each year-religion eh!

burro, well you certainly are one old donkey; hope you're not just boasting. The message is don't have sex outside marriage. You don't get STD's if you obey this. You eat as many french letters as you want, your stomach is used to grass and you could probably hack it. I'll have a glass of wine any day and so would people living in "sub-saharan Africa". Why do you condemn them to your latex feast?
