THE county council is set to tackle rat-running and through traffic in the Highfield area of Headington.
Streets between London Road and Osler Road have long been used by drivers trying to avoid queues at traffic lights at the Windmill Road and Gypsy Lane junctions.
About 70 per cent of vehicles using the streets are estimated to be through traffic.
The council is set to ask residents about traffic-calming measures such as speed cushions, raised road entries and narrowings, to deal with the problem.
The council has already ruled out the possibility of any road closures in Kennett Road, Lime Walk, New High Street, Latimer Road, Bateman Street, All Saints Road, Stapleton Road and Bickerton Road.
