Olympic sprinter Christian Malcolm put school children through their paces as he gave them an insight into life in the fast lane, writes SAM McGREGOR.

The World Championship medallist had scores of Dashwood School, Banbury pupils doing star jumps, press ups and burpees – similar to squat jumps.

Malcolm, who reached the final of the 200m in Beijing in 2008, is just one of the athletes involved in Team Super School, TSS, which is promoting the London Olympics and exercise.

Dashwood headboy James Smith got the surprise job of signing the school’s name on a Union flag – alongside the dozens of schools TSS has visited – and the flag will be presented to the British Olympic team at 2012.

Malcolm said: “I’m here as part of a team that is going to schools with the goal to try and reach 2012 schools before the 2012 Olympics.

“It is about helping the kids and promote exercise, making it fun and competitive.”
