SNOW: Mini plant closed

OXFORD's Mini plant has shut down for the day.

Some areas of the plant in Cowley did start work this morning but then bosses decided to suspend operations due to the weather.

Spokesman Rebecca Baxter said a decision about resuming work tomorrow will be made later this afternoon.

Two hotline numbers will be running from 5pm with information updates for employees: 01865 828500 and 828501.

Had the workers not shown up for work then quite rightly they should not be paid. However, it was BMW who decided not to open for business so the employees should not be penalised.

The weather is out of their control, so the company should not be penalised either. In this hard times, should people asked to be paid for not working?
