A WOMAN who has persistently breached an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo) will spend Christmas behind bars, after grabbing a 53-year-old woman by the throat.
Kirsty Walker, of Starnham Road, Ducklington, drunkenly attacked the woman in Witney High Street on November 23.
The incident was 20-year-old Walker’s eighth breach of the order since it was imposed in September last year.
Oxford Crown Court yesterday heard Walker had been jailed seven times for the previous breaches and had been released just days before the latest attack.
Mark Dixon, defending, said Walker had more than 20 previous convictions and had attempted to commit suicide 21 times since 2007.
He told Judge Julian Hall the case had been delayed due to a further suicide attempt Walker made yesterday en route to the court from Bronzefield Prison, in Surrey.
Mr Dixon said: “Until she is in the community, engaging with people who seek to help, there’s little chance of this cycle being broken.
“Sexual abuse drove her to an alcohol-fuelled existence.”
Sentencing Walker to 18 months’ youth custody for the breach of Asbo, and two months concurrently for the assault, Judge Hall said: “I hope during your time in detention first of all that you will be protected from yourself and you will find yourself able to accept help.”
