A KITTEN was rescued from a skip, just minutes from being crushed to death.
The short-haired tabby cat was spotted by workers at the Ardley Fields recycling centre, near Bicester, on Wednesday as she emerged from a cabinet just before it was to be crushed by a hydraulic digger.
The kitten was handed over to the RSPCA, which said the kitten was healthy and mischievous.
The cat was wearing a collar with a bell, but had no microchip.
RSPCA animal welfare officer Andy Eddy said it was thought the cat must have been exploring and got into the cabinet without her owners noticing.
“We feel sure that this little kitten has owners somewhere who will be missing her,” he said.
“Incidents like this one highlight just how important it is to microchip pets as we could easily have scanned and returned the kitten to her owners straight away if she had been chipped.”
