Thame A slumped to their first defeat of the Gentworks Oxford & District League season with a 5-1 mauling at home to Oracle A in Premier/Division 1, writes DAVID WHITE.

Nino Merola eased past Brian Elves in the opener before sneaking the second.

Brother Frankie made it 4-0 when he beat Darren Howard with the first of their frames also decided on the black.

Anwar Mahmood hit a break of 44 to beat Pom Merola.

Anwar then compiled a 56 in the final frame, but Merola snatched it by two points.

New Club A also tasted defeat for the first time, beaten 4-2 by leaders Fieldside A.

Ian Gee and Paul Robinson shared the first two frames, Robinson making a 43-break in frame two.

Alan Mander halved his two frames against Karl Walker, who needed just two scoring visits of 32 and 65 in the fourth.

Fieldside’s Mick Bennett saw off Justin Shepherd, making breaks of 45 and 31 in the final frame.
