THE boss of educational software firm RM has dismissed fears that cuts in public sector funding will hit the business hard.

Chief executive Terry Sweeney said: “Look at the facts. We have a £445m revenue stream. So we have business in the bag. And in the pipeline we have 13 projects on which we soon hope to hear we have preferred bidder status.

“Schools have got the money and next year’s spending round is up 1.3 per cent. I don’t think you could run a modern school without modern equipment.”

Mr Sweeney was speaking as the firm, based at Milton Park, near Didcot, revealed a six per cent jump in pre-tax profits to £16.3m for the year to September 30.

The company is seeking to recruit nearly 20 additional sales staff to add to its 1,176 strong Oxfordshire workforce.
