After reading your front page story about dog fouling (Oxford Mail, November 19), I would like to make a few comments.

Here at Risinghurst Playing Fields we have the same problem, even though we have four dog waste bins in the vicinity and six ordinary waste bins.

The young lady who gives up her time voluntarily to train and arrange football matches for our young people, first has to go around the field to clear up dog mess before they can play.

On one occasion this totalled 12 piles.

I have even seen cases where people have bagged dog mess but cannot be bothered to place it in a bin, and have hung it from the branch of a tree.

We have put up the signs given to us by the PCSOs, together with our own signs, but the problem continues.

We also put a notice in the parish magazine – which is delivered to every household in the parish – on the subject, and a message on the parish website.

If the problem occurs mainly in the early mornings and last thing at night surely that is the time the PCSOs, park rangers and dog wardens should be patrolling.

I would, however, like to say how lucky people are to have anyone patrolling their park. We have no-one to patrol our playing fields.

And yes I am a dog owner and dog lover.
