Blood, sweat and body-poppin -yes that means Lampton’s annual Fusion Talent Show. The successful show, held on the 4th and 5th November, showcased Lampton’s brightest stars with true singing, dancing and even juggling talent.

The Hounslow school’s biggest and most ambitious annual event opened with a crew of dohl players kicking the show alive. With a packed hall watching, the pressure was on for the rest of the contestants to maintain the buzz. One stand-out act was The Air Manipulators, who combined dazzling juggling talent but with razor-sharp fashion sense. Their cool simple black shirt and trouser outfit with the sparkle of fairy lights on top produced enormous cheers.

Murmurs of “the hosts were really good” were heard, and it is safe to say that they contributed greatly to the success of the show, keeping the programme on track and the audience laughing with witty banter and jokes. They could also set a more serious and sombre tone when needed: host Sandra Makumbi read her own poem, Young Boys, highlighting youth problems such as knife crime.

Surprise guest stars were Xtreme Fuzion, the well-known Indian dance troupe who have performed with the likes of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Their energetic dance moves grabbed the audience’s attention, and they also had professional advice and inspiration to impart. “This is exactly where we started out and look where we have ended up,” one of the dancers told the up-and-coming young hopefuls on the stage.

The show was not only presenting Lampton’s talent but was also raising money for the school’s charity. The aim is to raise enough money to fund a small group of sixth formers to go to Lampton’s twin college, Taibah College, in Uganda. They will be helping to teach in the classrooms and learn the culture of the school.

Thanks to the success of Fusion, it is hoped that the school’s sixth formers will be able to go to Uganda very soon.
