Operation Camp Cockerel a challenge camp for Explorer Scouts was run over the weekend of 13th to 15th November. Teams from around the area and as far afield as Pershore Worcester and Birmingham , took part in a challenge camp to try to win the Camp Cockerel trophy. During saturday each team of between four and six youngsters, took a range of challenges around the Rhydd Covert Campsite, gaining points as they went. At 8.00pm all the teams were ferried out to locations around a route that would take them from the campsite through the woods and countryside as far north as Trimpley reservoir and back, again with challenge bases along the way. The team challenges went on until a planned halt at 2.00 am, when all were returned to the campsite for a well deserved rest.

After the points had been tallied, last years winners "The Same Game" managed to just keep their title, narrowly beating a team from Kidderminster, the "Cockerel Riders". the scores from the night bases were equally tight but the Kidderminster team took that trophy, their second team also gaining a first place on one of the individual bases.

A thoroughly exhausting, but fantastic event.

Next years event is hoped to be as big a success with probably more teams taking part as the Cockerel legend begins to grow.
