Vintage vehicles help Didcot fundraising push

CHILDREN got a chance to sit inside Second World War military vehicles in Didcot as the Royal British Legion launched its final push to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.

Members of the Military Vehicles Trust displayed five historic trucks at the Orchard Centre on Saturday, including a Willys Jeep, Hillman staff car, and a Canadian Chevrolet used to tow anti-aircraft guns during the war.

Didcot Army Cadet Force members collected donations from members of the public.

RBL treasurer Phil Spinner said: “The reaction was very, very good.”

The display could now become an annual event.

Pictured, from front to back, are Luke Bowman 13, and Kieran Sadler, 14, from Didcot Detachment, together with Ken Willey from the Military Vehicle Trust with his Willys Jeep.
