£10m plan for Wood Farm School revamp unveiled

PLANS have been unveiled for a £10m revamp at an Oxford school.

Wood Farm Primary School, in Titup Hall Drive, is set for the overhaul to meet the growing population of the estate.

Oxfordshire County Council, which unveiled the plans, welcomed the backing of Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust for the scheme, which would see a new building with facilities for a primary school, nursery, and youth services.

It would also house children’s and community health centres. An initial design is being drawn up, which is expected to go to public consultation within the next two months.

It is hoped that work on the new site could begin by next spring.

Louise Chapman, the county council’s cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “The county council has worked hard to put together this funding to give children in the Wood Farm area the best possible start in life.

“We are pleased to be working with city council and PCT colleagues to make the site accessible to the community at large, so that more local residents can benefit from improved facilities.”

City councillor Antonia Bance, board member for social inclusion, said: “The re-development of this site in Wood Farm presents us with an exciting opportunity to provide a range of community and health services for the wider local community.

“The city council is working hard to get the best facilities for local people in Wood Farm.”
