PUPILS with a talent for engineering have been celebrating after getting the newly launched High Sheriff’s awards.
At a ceremony last week, four students were recognised for their hard work and determination at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College’s Bicester performance engineering centre. The pupils, who are in secondary education, are also working towards an engineering qualification for 14- to 16-year-olds.
Henry Smith, of Bartholomew School, Eynsham, won the High Sheriff’s Apprenticeship Award. Joe Dixey, of Cooper School, Bicester, was runner-up.
James Hill, of St Birinus School, Didcot, made most outstanding progress. Tom Wainwright, of Bicester Community College, was runner-up.
Curriculum manager Phil Neave said: “This training is underpinning our vision to inspire, prepare and support the engineers of tomorrow.”
