Man hurt in bus collision

A MAN was taken to hospital with minor face injuries after a collision with a bus in Oxford today.

Paramedics were called to Cowley Road, outside Costa Coffee, at 1.30pm.

An ambulance service spokesman said a pedestrian in his 50s had been hurt in a collision but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Another person who could not be bothered to walk 20 yards to the crossing. This may sound callous, but if you wish to walk in the road expect to be run down. If I drive my car on the path I expect to be nicked, if you walk on the road, you should be too. But this is Cowley (or any wild west town) and as such the rules don't appply.

Spot on Old Zimmer...If your going to walk in the road you should expect there to be traffic! If this person had bothered to walk an extra 10 seconds to the crossing then he would have been safe. I expect he was like most along the Cowley Road, one that wants to reclaim the streets for pedestrians. What I don't understand about that, is that roads were never built for pedestrians, they were built for vechicles,so how can you reclaim something that was never yours in the first place, likewise pavements are not built for vechicles unless your a cyclist.

Cowley Road pre-dates motor vehicles by at least a thousand years; it was originally "built" by the multitude of feet that walked the route.

I have to cross it several times a day, and I would appreciate it if the operators of potentially lethal devices would stop using them as weapons and remember that PEOPLE live here, not targets.

You mean cowley path then. The Cowley road was built to take the motor cars built by the great lord nuffield
