Smoke alarm vital after firework arson

Arsonists posted a firework through a letterbox to a house in Oxford.

Police are appealing for witnesses after attack in Crescent Road, in Cowley, at 11.15pm on Saturday.

Pc Andrew Reid said: “Fortunately nobody was injured as a result of the incident thanks to them having a smoke alarm fitted.

“I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Cowley on Saturday evening and saw anybody acting suspiciously to contact police immediately.”
