A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing in an Oxford park.

He was stopped and questioned by two Police community support officers in Marsh Park, Cowley, at 3.30pm on Tuesday.

Police later arrested the man on possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply.

PC Dave Scott, a neighbourhood specialist officer for Cowley, said: “This is a fantastic example of how Pcsos on patrol provide a visible presence and can help in the detection of crime.

“They patrol the area around Oxford Community School everyday to make sure the pupils get home safely and Marsh Park is part of their patrol.

"There are concerns among residents about cannabis use in the park particularly when the pupils are leaving school.

“The man was smoking what they thought was cannabis so they stopped and questioned him.

"As Pcsos do not generally have the power to search, they called me on the radio, and detained the man.

“I attended, and searched him, finding eleven bags of cannabis worth £20 each at street value and arrested him.

“We will continue with these patrols and do our best to tackle drug misuse, which is one of our neighbourhood priorities in Cowley.”

The man has been bailed until March 3.

I got caught smoking a spliff by a PCSO, he was a right jobsworth, tried asking me who my dealer was and if i got more at home and stuff, what a numpty! I didn't tell him so he got a real copper to come down, they gave me a slap on the wrist then went on there way... What a waste of police time and money. LEGALISE IT!

Just who is the numpty then, you got caught smoking a spliff outside in a public place. What do you expect the PCSO to do, walk on and ignore you, I dont think so.
As for the bloke in the article who got caught,he had eleven bags of the stuff worth £20 each on him, outside a school. surely you do not think this is OK. No their not numpty's, they were doing what they are supposed to be doing.

No i dont expect them to ignore it, i expect them to stop thinking they are the law, when they are just plastic police (trying to get information about my dealers - Just Lame). The real police came and did nothing "don't do it again Mr ...." that was it, waste of police and my time. And he was stopped in Marsh Park, not by the school. They patrol by the school thats it. So Shut your noise. Cannabis is not hustled onto people, you buy it if you want it. Take your head out of your @rse.

oh dear me cottage. by the way you are talking (typing) i would guess you are around the same age as the assailent in the story above, if not younger.
i smoked cannabis from the age of 14 and only stopped recently(age32).
the quicker you grow up and realise that smoking pot/weed is nothing to shout about, the better.
Im not preaching to you but you seem to be doing a good job of making yourself sound like a complete
t**t.
most (adult) pot smokers tend to keep it to themselves and their friends. perhaps you should learn to do the same??!!
