WITNEY’S Screen at the Square is ensuring children are fully catered for this Christmas, as it begins matinee showings from next Monday.

And those who don’t want to travel too far from home to see the latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, can also trip along to support John Richards’s independent cinema, in the town’s Corn Exchange.

Christmas is not just one day, but a two-week break for the schools. With that in mind, Mr Richards is bringing a double bill of High School Musical 3 and Igor.

The former is the third instalment in Disney's High School Musical film franchise, and the latest sequel follows high school seniors Troy and Gabriella, who are faced with the prospect of being separated from one another after graduating from East High. They decide to stage a spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes, and fears about the future.

The computer-animated comedy Igor should appeal to all youngsters with a liking for the cunning and macabre and lots of monstrous inventions. What’s more, it’s got John Cleese in top mad comic form as Doctor Glockenstein, the inventor of a rocket for the Evil Scientists’ Fair.

The two films are running on the same days, December 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, and 31, High School Musical 3 showing at 1.30pm, and Igor at 4.15pm.

The latest James Bond classic starts this Saturday, December 20, and also on December 22, 23, 29 and 30, at 7.30pm.
